Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) is an undergraduate degree course in computer applications
(formerly it was BCS). With the rapid growth of IT industry in India, The demand of computer
professional is increasing day by day. This increasing growth of IT industry has created a lot of
opportunities for the computer graduates.
Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) is one of the popular courses among the students who want to
make their career in the IT (Information Technology) field. The duration of the course is 3 years
and divided into 6 semesters. It comprises of the subjects like Database, Networking, Data
Structure, and Core Programming languages like ‘C’ and ‘java’. This Programme provides a lot of
opportunities to the students who are interested in computer field and wants to work in the IT
sector as programmer or software developer. It has an intake of 120 seats. On completion of the
course one can opt for higher studies such as PG course in MCA, MBA, etc.
The Department is established in its own building planned as per the given norms with rich
infrastructure including three state-of-art Computer Labs having Desktop Computers (PCs), Servers,
Printer, Scanners interconnected in LAN having speed of 100 MBPS. The department is allotted 3 Labs.
Each one is equipped with 60+ computers and has a spacious working environment. The Department is
having dedicated broadband connectivity for high speed internet with speed of 50 MBPS and is
currently striving for lease line. Recently the department had established WiFi connectivity for
internet access for students in collaboration with Reliance Communications Ltd.
The Teaching staffs of 10 members are highly qualified and experienced teachers are the real
strength of the department. The student's record for last ten years was very much progressive as the
department boasts of having 3 university merits every year, university colour holders and the best
job placement opportunities in the town through campus placement drive.
