Department of Economics

Department of Economics is established in the year 1991 with the establishment of the faculty of Arts in the College. The department is running Under Graduate Course, Bachelor of Arts in Economics. Lecture method is the major technique used for teaching the syllabus. However, seminar, group discussion, home assignments, unit test and A/V tools techniques are also adopted. Students are asked to submit small projects on Economics including local firms, so that they must be familiar about the economy and economical issues of the place where they live. Impact of this is naturally observed on the performance of the students in the final University Examination and therefore satisfactory outcome is obtained.
Only teaching as per syllabus in the class room is not sufficient to develop the academic personality of students. Besides, some more academic events are organized by the department. This responsibility is always taken by the faculty of the department. Department organizes Guest Lectures of eminent personalities on various topics, conferences, A/V clips on various economical movements etc. for students.
The department is proud to share that many students have cleared the competitive examination and are extending their services in various fields in Government and Corporate sectors.
Dr. Devendra Rangacharya, the faculty of the department has also participated in various kinds of academic activities such as seminar, workshop, short-term courses for updating himself academically and socially. Moreover he also has published his research papers in conferences and reputed journals. He has also completed one UGC sponsored research project.
