With the rapid growth of Cosmetic & Pharmaceutical Industry in India, the demand of cosmetic professionals is increasing day by day. This increasing growth is opening new avenues for Cosmetic Science graduates. We Vidyabharti Mahavidyalaya offer a COSMETIC HUB for building their career in Cosmetic Science.
“Bachelor and Master in Cosmetic Technology” is an Undergraduate and Post graduate degree course in Cosmetic Science respectively and is one of the most popular courses among the students who want to make their career in the field of “Cosmetics and Personal Care”. The duration of the course is 4 years and divided into 8 semesters. It comprises of the subjects like Cosmetic Technology, Herbal Cosmetic, Cosmetic Analysis, Cosmetic Engineering, etc. This course provides a lot of opportunities to the students who are interested in cosmetic field and seeks to work in the Cosmetic and Personal Care or Pharmaceutical sector in Research & Development, Marketing & also in Academics. College has an intake capacity of 80 seats per Semester. On completion of the Undergraduate Course one can opt for Post Graduate course in M. Tech in Cosmetic Technology, MBA, or for higher studies such as MS, and can also go for MPSC OR UPSC etc.
The Department established in its own separate building with “Approved Research Laboratory” planned as per the given norms with rich infrastructure facilities including Beauty and SPA Therapy, Dermatology, Cosmetic Analysis, Cosmetic Technology, Perfume and Colours practical laboratories, classrooms. The department has 6 Laboratories and 2 classrooms and 1 E-Classroom and separate Instrumental room for sophisticated skin testing equipment. The department is having optic fiber lease line connectivity of 100 MBPS bandwidth. Recently the department had established Wi-Fi connectivity for Internet access for students.
In 2018-19, Department of Cosmetic also started Bachelor of Vocation (B. Voc.) - 03 years degree programme in Cosmetics (Beauty and Wellness) UGC recognized under National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and NSQF. This programme will provide integrated knowledge to maintain and enhance external beauty through various professional therapies and makeover skills.
The department boasts of highly qualified faculty involved in teaching as well as research, with 2 Ph.D. holders. The faculty has published 18 research papers in the Journals of International and National repute as well as Conferences of National and International levels. Two faculties are working with BOS, SGB Amravati University Amravati. Consequently, the department retains its glorifying tradition of excelling in academics with students securing place in General Merit List of SGBA University from the year 2005. Two students have won Gold Medals in year 2016-17 in B. Tech. (Cosmetic Technology) in the Merit list of SGBA University.
The Training and Placement Committee takes continuous efforts to make students groom themselves to compete with the global corporate scenario. As a result of which many students have been placed in different Multinational and National companies.
