Department of Marathi is established in the year 1972 with the establishment of faculty of Science in the college. It was started with the main objective to enhance language competencies among students and to make them ambassadors of the mother tongue Marathi. The department offered UG programme and took every effort for the overall development through participative learning such as group discussion, organization of seminar, debate, elocution, Katha Vachan, Poem recitation etc. The Department is blessed with the dedicated and dynamic faculty. Dr. B.G.Ramteke, the former Head of the Department has written an Autobiography-'Kshitijapar'to throw light on his life journey and a novel 'Suryodaya', which describes the plight of deprived and rural people. The present head Dr. G. D. Bansod is following the same path of literary tradition of the department. In the short span he published a book ‘Kathaprawah: Mulya Ani Swarup’ and awarded with Purushottam Darvekar Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Abhivachan Competition as ‘The best fiction writer.’ He also worked as National Service Scheme Programme Officer, Coordinator of Sahitya Kala Mandal, Co-coordinator of Debate Circle and Editor of Pratibha magazine. During his tenure as an editor of College Magzine-Pratibha; the magazine has consistently bagged first prize as a best College magazine in the jurisdiction of SGB Amravati University Amravati. Department organizes Guest Lectures of eminent personalities on various topics for students. Besides regular teaching, co-curricular activities help the students to clear the competitive examinations.
