                Soft Skills is a very popular term nowadays, used to indicate personal transversal competences such as social aptitudes, language and communication capability, friendliness and ability of working in team and other personality traits that characterize relationships between people. Soft Skills are traditionally considered complementary of Hard Skills, which are the abilities to perform a certain type of task or activity. Soft Skills are considered strategic to be successful in personal and professional life then is essential for the students when they try to obtain any kind of job.
                Enterprises generally hire new employees, in particular recent graduates, taking more in consideration their Soft Skills than their Hard Skills. This happens also for technical professions, because the company, in order to be competitive, needs to create good and effective teams and a collaborative working atmosphere.
                The departments of the college have organized various types of activities to develop the soft skills of the students enrolled with the institution. These activities of the departments and platforms available helped the learners to learn and acquire soft skills like Communication Skills, Presentation Skills, Written Communication, Interpersonal Skills, Creativity and Leadership etc.
                In order to improve the communicative abilities of the students the Vocal Cliché, Vidya Bharati GEMS, Department of English and Pratibha, the College Magazine to enhance the written communication of the students play significant role. The students are given in depth lessons by organizing workshops, state level elocution competition, interfaculty debates and group discussions and expert talks of the quality speakers and the trainers throughout the academic year. These activities benefit the students to enhance the knowledge of use of language and its spoken aspect. It helped the students for their development of communication skills.
                To improve the Presentation Skills the departments conducted seminars of the students. The students get participated and perform active role in the Seminars. Topics are given to them to prepare and present to assess their performance. Every year the departments make the organization of such seminars a regular feature of the campus. The Department of English conducts the Poetry Recitation activity which helps the students to learn the presentation skills and enhances the creative capabilities among them. The Group Discussion is the routine practice of the campus may it be the part of the curriculum or not. They learn the art of argument which helps them in practical life ahead and thus develop interpersonal skills among themselves.
                The institution has also developed well equipped Language Laboratory supported by digital resources and software like Words Worth. It helps and encourages the learners to acquire necessary nuisances of the language.

                Vidya Bharati Mahavidyalaya, as an advanced institution of Higher education feels to provide all possible accesses to its learners to enhance their employability skills. English is the language of world communication. The urgent need of the hour is to have ease in its usage along with finesse, and felicity of expression. Considering the demand of excellent skills of English language in the global market and requirement of the MNCs during the campus placement drives, to set up the Language Laboratory was the immediate need of the institution. Consequently, the Language Laboratory got established with all essential technological devices, tools and software.
                Language is a medium of communication. Communication implies carrying of message or receiving of message. Students from various cultures feel hard to learn English and its proficiency. The thirst of English language learning needs some solution. The language lab is a technological break for imparting skills in English. The language lab offers an exclusive result oriented and efficient to enrich the English language learning process.
                Break through the traditional teaching method with the rich teaching material contents, the digital language lab motivates student’s learning attitude, providing an interactive learning environment. Foreign language learning lends itself naturally to the use of media. The language lab is the solution and need of the hour to learn the English language. The quality of the language proficiency will be more when they learn it from the multimedia, digital and computerized Language Lab. By high merit of its unique equipment and its unambiguous pedagogy, it stands alone. The computer now fulfills all the need of language educators and gives life to language for many learners.


Object of the Language Laboratory

                The object behind the establishment of the language lab was to facilitate language skills for the students enrolled with the institution. The language lab is helpful to the students for the development of communication skills: Oraland Written. The software of the lab is very much user friendly.The laboratory also has some of the important language learning software, and good collection of videos, documentaries, BBC supported collection of rich resources and some excellent speeches via TED Talks. The more the learners get exposed to the language, the greater the possibilities are to acquire the skills of language learning.


Mechanism of Governance

                The Language Laboratory remains open & available for the learners throughout the year.The lab runs with the regular schedule during the college hours. Timetable is formed for the students of all the courses as per their convenience and the availability of free hours.Timetable of the Language Lab is displayed on the notice board for the information of all.Students’ attendance is taken for every session. 25 computers connected with headphones, with a display screen along with a server, etc.are provided. The language teacher/instructor gives the important tips and instructions to the learners.

               Stress is a general word, termed to various mental and bodily pressures experienced by people throughout life. In an age of a highly dynamic and competitive world,man is exposed to people throughout life. In an age of a highly dynamic and competitive world,man is exposed to health and emotions as well, it can effect cognitive functions impairs concentration, attention, mental, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tention. Stresses can be external or internal. Stress can initiate the “fight or flight” response, a complex reaction of neurologic and endocrinologic systems. Even positive life changes such as a promotion, mortagage and some extra ordinary acompliments etc. Some of the following are the points from which the stress can occur. They are:
•   Worrying and feeling anxious about money.
•   Lower levels of patience and increased levels of frustration.
•   Parenting cause such as working long hours, single parenting, marital or relationship tensions, or raising a child who has been diagnosed with a behavioral disorder or developmental disability.
•   From grades to test scores to applying to college, teens experience high levels of school-related stress.
•   Death of a family member or friend, accidents, sickness, or enduring emotional or physical abuse can have a lasting impact on teen stress levels.

These are the some points of stress from which the following various effects may cause on physical health on one's body. They are as follows:

To overcome from these type of stress the college organizes the Certificate course named as Certificate course in Yoga and Meditation at college level every year for the college students and some remedies and tips to manage the stress which are taught areas follows:
•   Be spiritually and mentaly strong.
•   Observe honesty and integrity in life.
•   Wealth without ethics, limitless confort and unlimited desire for physical plessures etc. are some of the causes for increasing       stress. So avoid it.
•   Share your problems and internal agonies with family and friends.
•   Get mixed with your kith and kin, pal, friends and society.
•   Avoid self assertion and too much ego as it leads to sheer isolation.
•   Keep a possitive attitude.
•   Exercise regularly.
•   Eat healthy, well-balanced meals.
•   Get enough rest and sleep.
•   Don't rely pn alcohol, drugs or compulsive behaviors to reduce stress.
•   Make time for hobies, interests and relaxation.
•   Seek out social support. Spend enough time with those you enjoy.
•   Accept that there are events that you can not controll.
•   Be assertive instead of aggressive.
•   Avoid anger.
•   Lear and Practice relaxasation techniques, try meditation and yoga.
•   Learn to manage your time.

I.T. Proficiency can be defined as a life skill in today’s world. Without the use of computers, the internet in online and offline business, educational services, and many other fields or professions it’s very difficult or impossible to do daily life works. It’s important that everybody understands the basics of Technologies. So that they can use it based on its advantages and disadvantages. That’s why computer or information technological skills, literacy, education is very important in today’s world.

The institution has constituted I.T. Proficiency & Development Cell to enhance the basic knowledge of the students, Teaching/Nonteaching staff about computer skills and especially knowledge of modern technologies. As computer and Internet skills are valued in today’s academic and professional environments, this cell provides the training on Computers, Computer Applications and the Internet to the stakeholders inside the institute.

I.T. Proficiency & Development Cell conducts various seminars, workshops and training program throughout the year. We invite various renowned speakers, industry experts and other technology savvy people to share their expertise, knowledge and experience with our students and teachers. Also to bridge the gap between academic curriculum and industry requirements. Industrial technology experts are called to give firsthand experience to the students in our campus. The learner can perform various activities by using different tools and technologies to accomplish their task.


Objectives:

•   Encouraging the I.T. Proficiency of the students, teaching and non teaching staff.
•   To make available practise session on various applications (data processing applications)
•   Arranging seminars/workshops to provide knowledge of current technology.
•   Solving problems of the students and staff members while using the electronic gazette.
•   Guidance for tools available on Internet and its troubleshooting.
